This was a tough week for our family. My son was in Istanbul with tickets for a flight back to the US on Thursday. The tragedy at the Istanbul airport played out just hours before his scheduled flight.
It was scary and frightening. With the time difference of seven hours, things can be very confusing and unsettling. Until I knew he was safe, all of my energies were focused on any news reports I could find.
Finally getting the message that he was OK, released all the stress, and made me even more grateful for the country we live in and the freedoms we enjoy.
He is home safe now. There is a huge sigh of relief in our family and a deeper appreciation of the realities of life and the blessings we enjoy.
